In the recent days, many provinces in Central region had experienced heavy and continuous floods, rains on the large areas, causing numerous damages to people and properties, hundreds of communes, wards in Central provinces had been flooded, more than 130 thousand families lost their houses due to floods and rains, the most affected provinces would be: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Nam... up to now, more than 40 persons had died and lost in the flood.
In this situation, according to the policy of the Party Committee and Group leaders, on the morning, October 15, 2020 Vietnam Oil and Gas Group delegation (Petrovietnam) directly led by Deputy general director Do Chi Thanh came to the Central region to support, visit the flood victims; The Group delegation also promptly transferred a fund, 4 billion VND, to 4 areas heavily affected by the flood including Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Nam (01 billion VND each province). In addition, Vietnam National Union of Oil and Gas Workers gave 500 million VND to 2 privinces, Thừa Thiên – Huế and Quảng Trị khắc, to overcome the flood consequence.

On the morning of the same day, at the Group head quarter, the Group’s Youth Union and Veteran Association urgently mobilized officers and staff at the Group’s agency to donate and support the affected people in Central region. Sympathizing with the losses of Central region people, at the opening event, Petrovietnam General director Lê Manh Hung appealed to the spirit of solidarity in officers, staff and workers of the Group to continue to give their spiritual and material supports via various methods and helps to reduce their difficult time and soon stabilize the lives of people affected by natural disasters. After the first 15 minutes on the morning, the Organization Board had received nearly 100 million VND and other items such as unused clothes.

In response to the call of the Group general director, in Vung Tau City, the Group Veteran Association had discussed, coordinated with Vietsovpetro Veteran Association to organize a fundraising event to donate and support people affected by the floods in the afternoon of October 15, 2020.
Up to now, the Group officers, employees and units in the industry have been trying various methods to ask for donations of money, necessities to work with the localities, functional agencies to give the best effort in supporting the search and rescue operation as well as supporting the flood victims in Central region to go through this hard time.
